It's nice to get these five books together in one collection for the less than the price you would pay for each title individually in the Amazon Kindle store. What I also appreciate is the Sackett books are in historical, not date written, order as you can chronicle the lives of the Sackett clan through early American history.Louis L'Amour was not one of the most technical or long-winded writers, he was short, succinct, and to the point and had a way that grabs you into the story immediately. The descriptions of the scenery, events, people, and situations made you feel as if you were right there living it side-by-side with his characters.
With the first five books of the series, you not only have the classic Louis L'Amour situations with the good guy fighting the bad guy, a life-threatening conflict, the good guy wins and gets the girl, you also get more of a historical educational aspect of the life and times of late 1500 – 1600’s England and the New World.
As I type this review, this combination of the five stories is priced at $22.99, compared to $5.99 each if you bought them on a standalone basis in the Kindle format: the $22.99 for all five is a good value vs. approximately $30 on an individual basis - you'll get a lot more than $22.99 of entertainment out of these!

We enjoyed the saga of the Sacketts because it was a well paced story with historical underpinning.
Well written. Thoughtful. L'amour's writing style makes you feel like you are part of the story with his well researched descriptions of the country and times he writes about. His presents his characters thought process and values in a believable manner but keeps things moving.
As always this set of stories are A-1+. I have been reading Louis L' Amour books for more than 50 years, most of them 6 times or more. Pick one up and see if you can read only one. We miss you MR. L' Amour.
I read this series over twenty years ago in paperback, sometimes by candle light to make it feel more authentic! It still grabs my attention just as much. Louis chose to start the saga in the year 1599 and we track the family line all the way through the early 1900's. The values and 'fight' in the human spirit shines through with each generation, faults and virtues!
I read the Sackett series more than 20 years ago. I love the way the author inter weaves this families lives. The Sackett's Land was the second Louis L'Amour book I read and continued reading his books until I think I've read all his books.
These tales by L. L'Amour are a bit out of the reading norm for me, but I'm enjoying them very much. I'm impressed at the depth of L.L.'s seeming expertise with sailing, ships, and their terminology. I'm glad they have been bundled into Volume 1 which contains books 1-5 and Volume 2 with 6-17. I've finished the first bundle and am eager to plunge into the second. I love a good, long story about likeable, interesting characters.
This is my second time around with the Sacketts, I began reading L'Amour books when I was a lot younger and fell in love with his vivid story telling. There was a particular book that developed partly in a small town of Big Spring,Texas, I was immediately hooked since it was there where I went for my pilot training in my Air Force days and where I met and married my wife of 49 years. I believe I have read most of Louis L'Amour books about the Sacketts, but this time I'm paying more attention and so far I like them better than the first time around.
